Endurance Type

Some equestrians refer to this as a three-point breastplate. It is adjustable at the wither, on either side where it goes over the horse’s shoulders to the chest, and at the bottom where it connects to the girth/cinch as well. This one is shown with snap “tugs” that are not adjustable, but we make these breast collars with adjustable tugs as well. The standard measurements for horse and Arab sizes are listed below, but we are happy to customize a breast collar to your specific measurements.

Horse Size: wither strap 12″; shoulder straps 22-25″; girth strap 20-25″

Arab Size: wither strap 10″; shoulder straps 18-22″; girth strap 18-22″

Western

A western breast collar is very similar to an endurance breast collar except a western breast collar does not have a wither strap. Western breast collars are also typically not adjustable on the shoulders. The one pictured here at left has adjustable “tugs” to attach to the D-rings of your saddle. For best fit, please submit measurements when ordering.

Single Strap

This type of breast collar connects to your saddle at the D-rings and goes under a horse’s neck to help keep a saddle from sliding backwards. Both ends have adjustable “tugs” to help customize the fit to your horse.

Training Fork/Running Martingale

Western riders refer to this as a training fork, and english riders call it a running martingale attachment. It clips to the ring of the breast collar in the middle of the horse’s chest, and the reins pass through the loops at each end. Training forks are used as a training aid to help encourage the horse to carry his/her head in the proper lower position.
